How to Get Tickets to Wimbledon

June 22, 2010 at 1:00 PM | by | Comments (0)

If you're visiting London this week but missed out on the public ballot for Wimbledon tickets, which closed back in December, you can still get a ticket if you're willing to wait in The Queue.

Each morning, 500 tickets for the Center and No.1 and No.2 courts are reserved for sale to the public at the turnstiles. The cost for these tickets ranges between £25 to £103 depending on which day you go. There are also 6,000 Grounds tickets available everyday, which include No. 2 court standing and unreserved seating and standing on Courts 3-19. Tickets cost between £8 and £25 for these, depending on the day. By July 4—the day of the Men's Singles and Doubles finals—the passes are down to £8, but they sell out fast!

There is a single queue at Gate 3, starting in Wimbledon Park, parking lot 10. Because all tickets are on a first-come first-served basis (and cash only), most tennis fans chose to camp out overnight at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. The park actually supports the campers and will even give you a 6:00am wake you call so you can dismantle your tent and move your car before they hand out wristbands (which will ensure your place in line) at 7:30 am.

If camping out for a ticket seems like a bit much, you can still catch the matches in style. The Stafford London by Kempinski, will be showing live matches on the big screen along with their new Lawn Tennis Afternoon Tea. The Tea will include strawberries and cream, Lanson Champagne, finger sandwiches, pastries, and teas. The Lawn Tennis Afternoon Tea is priced at £43.50 per person and reservations can be made by calling +44 20 7493 0111.
