New Dreamliner Destinations, Missions to Mexico, and More New Route News

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Air Berlin:
Düsseldorf International Airport is looking to make a name for itself when it comes to foreign travel, and Air Berlin is certainly helping them reach that goal. The airline plans 77 nonstop destinations from the airport this summer. Some of the new routes for the warmer months include San Francisco, Skiathos, and Tel Aviv. Other new routes began a few months ago—like Naples—and continue to go strong. Now might be a good time to visit Germany, and to hit up some European side trips thanks to Air Berlin.

· Frontier Airlines:
The newly combined Frontier Airlines is already getting ready for the long winter ahead with new route announcements to Mexico. They’ll be sending people down to Los Cabos from Kansas City to work on their tans from December through April 2011. Those in Denver will have a chance to escape to Ixtapa from January through March 2011. In total the airline will offer six trips to our neighbors to the south from Denver and three from Kansas City. All flights will utilize the small—yet comfy—Embraer 190 aircraft.

· Continental:
The might-just-be world’s largest airline is wasting no time in getting the most out of their brand new Boeing 787s. Continental has already planned a Houston to Auckland route using the new birds, and now they want to use another plane to whisk passengers to the African continent. The flight will run from the airline’s base in Houston to Lagos, Nigeria starting in November 2011. Apparently Houston has the USA’s largest Nigerian population, so about 16,000 people will be pumped that they can hop on a plane to visit mom and dad on a daily basis.

· VivaAerobus:
We haven’t heard too much from VivaAerobus lately, but they’re apparently still doing their thing by bringing low cost love to south of the border travel. Starting on July 1, they’ll be bringing the party to Houston when they start flying to Monterrey, Mexico. Tickets on the new route will start at around $90 each way before taxes, and the flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays—perfect for a long weekend.

· Delta:
For the business type, Delta just announced another version of their shuttle service. Travelers can now depart from LaGuardia and head off to Chicago-O’Hare on the newly announced route. This new business bus started up on Monday and will offer 11 flights per weekday, and to celebrate the new announcement they’re trying to seduce flyers with triple miles. Delta is offering triple Medallion Qualification Miles—those are the ones that count towards elite status—on this shuttle flight as well as other shuttle flights between now and August 14. The airline already runs shuttles to Boston and Washington from New York; so make sure you remember your business cards.
