Find Places to Pump Iron near the Airport with AirportGyms.com

If you're the jetsetting type who spends a lot of time in airports, you needn't totally sacrifice your regimen of GTL—Jersey Shore-speak for gym, tanning and laundry—during your travels. While you're on your own for the tanning and laundry components, a website can help with the gyms part.

Airport Gyms offers a free listing of fitness centers either in or near major U.S. and some Canadian airports. The database, searchable by state, lists the gym's name, its proximity to the airport, the cost, hours, special offerings and a phone number.

For example, we found The Rock Health and Fitness Club, about three miles away from New York's LaGuardia, costs $20 per day. The facility offers salsa, boxing and yoga classes and amenities like a 30-foot rock-climbing wall.

While it can be helpful to find spots within a 10- to 15-minute cab ride, shuttle or walk of the airport, we think the best listings are for those gyms inside the terminal, like the Hilton in Chicago's O'Hare. They are a much more feasible option for squeezing in a quickie workout when you have time to kill before a flight.

The downside of user-generated-feedback site is that some gym info is more complete than others. We noticed that most entries don't give addresses. So you either have to use the provided phone number to get it or to go searching online for the location. There's a map feature, but it doesn't plot out the gym; it only shows the airport's surrounding area. To ensure you've got the most up-to-date deets, call a gym before you visit.

Now if we could only get laundry and tanning sites...
