June 11, 2010 at 8:29 AM | by | ()

We've seen it far too much already at the airports this season: people dressed for beach vacations and ready to relax, but dealing with checked luggage and overstuffed carry-ons. If you don't travel all that often, you are most at risk of developing an overpacking sickness, but thanks to quick how-tos like the above "How to Pack for a Summer Weekend Trip" video from Lucky Magazine, you can easily see how it is possible to fit an entire vacation in one cute carry-on.

In it, Elise from Lucky introduces a new series called "Packing List," and this first installment does exactly what you'd think: gives you a packing list, but also demonstrates how the items you pack can be remixed into different outfits that work for your style. Khaki cargo shorts and souvenir T-shirts, be gone!

You should be intrigued by this because, as they show, they've managed to fit a good week's worth of outfits into one straw bag, which is more like a huge purse than luggage. We thought we packed light, but shoot—this is pretty good. We'll be keeping our eyes out for more of Lucky's "Packing List" segments, but for now, jot down a few tips for your summer trips.
