Pull on your man-tights and string up your bow, because the release of the latest theatrical take on the tale of Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe, has sparked a tourism boom in Robin's hood, Sherwood Forest.

Sherwood Forest is located in Nottinghamshire, England and in Robin Hood's day, it was a royal hunting forest. Today on the other hand, it is part of a National Nature Reserve which you can visit. Within the mere 450 acres that remain of the forest, there are 900 veteran oak trees, including the famous Major Oak, one of Britain's most famous trees.

Along with the nature preserve, there are several Robin-related touristy things to do in Sherwood Forest, including learn all about the Sherwood Forest of Robin Hood's day, see a film of the making of Ridley Scott's Robin Hood, and attend a daily Robin Hood Festival. Admission to the park is free, though there is a seasonal £3 parking fee.

There will also be a special exhibition at nearby Nottingham Castle, taking takes fans behind the scenes of the new Robin Hood film. For more information about the tour and other special events planned at the castle to honor the film, check out NottinghamCity.gov.uk.
