· Explore With Etihad
You’re already in the Middle East on holiday, so you might as well swing by Iraq to see how things are holding up. Etihad can make that happen since they are starting service on April 26 between Abu Dhabi and Baghdad. They’re still waiting for the final government paperwork to be signed, but they’ll be sending Airbus A320 airplanes back and forth several times a week. Just like Lufthansa they’ve got their eyes on Erbil too, but that won’t start until June.
· Investigate With Iraqi
The airline has been around since the 1940s, but Iraqi Airways still isn’t a major force in world travel. However, they are pretty good when it comes to getting around Iraq, but they weren’t that great about helping passengers get into Western Europe. Things were set to change as the airline was all set to launch service to London-Gatwick, but that ash cloud was a pretty major setback. Originally things were set to begin on April 17, but hopefully they’ll be able to put the inaugural flight champagne on ice just a little longer.
