On 'Fly Girls': More Richard Branson and the Girls Go to New York

Did you watch the second episode of the new CW show Fly Girls last night? Unlike last week's premiere episode, which was all around more interesting than this week and had many people tweeting about it, we feel like the audience has left as quickly as it came. Nonetheless, we stuck it out through the half-hour show in order to bring you the recap below.

As in the first episode when the five flight attendant stars stressed about the events surrounding the launch of Virgin America's Fort Lauderdale routes, they had a big night to look forward to this episode: Virgin Unite's star-studded charity event called "Rock the Casbah." But before we get into that, we have to say that our hate for Nikole was reinforced tenfold when she sat down with the other girls at the "crash pad" and immediately incited girl talk about "boys" like they were 12 and had nothing else to talk about, and then she proceeded to generalize that all flirty passengers are "schmoozy douchebags."

Continuing on after the jump, another Richard Branson cameo...

And we're not the only one who hates Nikole—who, by the way, we haven't seen on a plane yet—since the other girls say "the good thing about being a flight attendant is you can hop on a plane and deal with it when you come back." And that might be the case, except that they can't escape dealing with chewed gum later, since one of the girls admits that a passenger wanted to spit his gum out into her hand for disposal. Ew—that gum scene is the entire in-flight portion of the episode.

The interesting three—Farrah, Louise and Mandalay—hopped a plane to New York to visit friends and potential lovers while Nikole and Tasha remained in LA to work the United event. Cut to the red carpet and this episode has fulfilled its quota of Richard Branson, along with some extra Gavin Rossdale. Nikole is impressed with the scene and states, "This is Hollywood." Yes it is. Thank you, Captain Obvious.

At the Unite event, Tasha has been charged with an important task by the event coordinator—get Branson's speech from where they are standing near the silent auction up to the podium in forty minutes. Of course this is inviting trouble, and of course the file folder goes missing just when Tasha needs it. And of course Nikole finds it and saves the day, making her even with Tasha since she slipped up earlier in the episode and rudely answered Tasha's phone, acting all stupid when it was Tasha's young son on the line.

Meanwhile, back in New York, the girls head off to their separate evenings. Farrah meets up with her younger sister and husband for some relationship misery at the restaurant Buttermilk Channel in Brooklyn. Mandalay stays in Manhattan and heads down to The Bowery to see her friend Avir's band play. They aren't much to talk about, but that doesn't stop Mandalay and Louise from rocking out and getting jealous as Avir hands his number off to other girls. A confrontation between Mandalay and Avir results in Avir turning down Mandalay—a cute flight attendant who is offering herself to him—who does that?! At least he was direct about it.

And there you have it, this week's episode of Fly Girls. The previews for next week promise flight attendants in bikinis as the girls head off on some friend's yacht, while Louise gets another turn for heartbreak.
