Bacon Cupcakes and Bacon Jewelry Await at Chicago's Baconfest

If you can't get enough bacon—loading it up in your salads, burgers and even your chocolate—you'll want to hightail it to Chicago's Baconfest, a daylong celebration of that delicious porcine product.

The April 10 event at the Stan Mansion will technically be the second annual festival, but last year's Baconfest was a relatively small affair, with 10 chefs and 100 guests in The Publican restaurant. This year, Baconfest will step it up with 24 chefs serving a 12-course meal to 800 bacon-lovers.

Aside from the food, there'll be pork-related activities. Artisan bacon-makers and bacontrepreneurs will be selling everything from gourmet smoked bacon to bacon lip balm to bacon jewelry at the Bacon Expo. You also can head to the Bacon Café, Bar & Cocktail Lounge to fill up bacony snacks from local restaurants, bacon-studded sweets from area bakeries and bacon cocktails from nearby bars. Be still our clogged hearts.

To round out the festival, artists, poets, musicians and actors will perform as part of the Bacon Cultural Explosion. The Golden Rashers, the Oscars of the bacon world, also will be awarded to the winners of the Pro & Amateur Bacon Cook-Offs.

Unfortunately, tickets for the dinner went like hot strips of bacon and are sold out. It will especially be a blow to the people passing by the festival and inhaling that hunger-inducing bacon aroma. You can probably get into the Bacon Expo, though. Mmm, bacon.

Awesome fest

Wow thanks for that announcement. I love Baconfest and I love bacon jewelry which is really awesome! I remember I won diamond watches from bacon the last time I was there. It was really awesome. Thanks for the great post here one more time and keep publishing such nice ones in the nearest future too.
