Teams say "adios" to Argentina and fly into Frankfurt. The cowboys and detectives arrive at the airport first and grab a train to Hamburg. Though the cute bros and the dating divas get to the airport less than a half an hour later, they just miss the train, which makes Brandy burst into tears. Not a good sign for this leg of the race.
In Hamburg, the cowboys get an intersection, which means they have to pair up with another team. This is the first time that two people from different teams have to work together to complete a roadblock—take the train to Hamburg Harbor and do a 150-foot bungee jump. "City and country are gonna work together today," detective Michael says, as he partners up with cowboy Jet. The pairing really helped Jet, who thought the "Metro" mentioned in the clue meant "Metropolitan area." The marrieds choose to work with the father-daughter team because they are a good family, like them, Heidi says. How quickly they forget their alliance with the dating divas.
The cute bros end up with the dating divas. "She's the lesbian aunt I never had," Dan says about Carol. That leaves the South Carolinas with the Big Brother Lovers. Caite lets Miss South Carolina lead the way. Big mistake, as she puts them on the wrong train.
At the harbor, Michael and Jet strap in together and jump. In true cowboy style, Jet's hat doesn't leave his head. Married Joe and daughter Allie make the jump, aggravating Joe's already injured knee. But he keeps on like a trooper. Not so much the trooper is Brandy, who sees the task and says, "I'm just gonna die." Brandy's face is frozen with fear on the jump, but thank God for the intersection because sweetie bro Dan took care of her.
After dangling upside down from the bungee cord, teams have to find the Kaiser Wilhelm statue to find the next clue. Leading the pack, the detectives cab it and find out it's a detour, soccer or sauerkraut. In soccer, teams have to hit five targets with soccer balls. In sauerkraut, teams have to go down a plate of the cabbage before a live band finishes playing the sure-to-be-iTunes-hit the "Sauerkraut Polka." After the detour, teams must make their way to Haifisch Bar and share a glass boot full of beer.
The detectives decide to eat, and Michael practically downs the entire heap of kraut in two massive forkfuls. "I've eaten things as big as Jet and Cord," Michael says.
The cowboys make the grave error of taking the train to the statue, a much longer route, and there they meet up with the dating divas, the marrieds, dad and daughter, and the cute bros. The father-daughter team kicks bootie in the soccer challenge. The cowboys and cute bros easily complete the soccer challenge. But why the marrieds would choose soccer when Joe's knee hurts, is beyond us. After giving it a couple of unsuccessful tries, the marrieds decide to switch to kraut and quickly gobble it all down.
The South Carolinas get lost again, this time trying to make it to the soccer stadium. The Big Brother Lovers also have direction problems because their clueless cab driver enters the wrong info on his GPS and brings them far out of the way.
Back at the bar, Michael doesn't like ale, so Louie comes to the rescue and chugs most of the boot o' beer. It seems like the challenge is a dream for dad Steve, who's been craving a brew since the show began. "I drink more beer than that in an hour," dad brags after polishing off the boot. The task was a bit daunting for the cute bros. "We're gonna be shitfaced," Jordan says. The oh-so-innocent cowboys also have a problem drinking the beer, which elicits laughs from the locals.
When the South Carolinas find the soccer field, Miss SC is pumped because she's played the sport since she was five. But after one perfect kick, Miss SC has shooting leg pains and can't play. Meanwhile, the Big Brother Lovers finally sit down to their kraut, but can't finish it in time. They hate the taste so much they give soccer a go. After their tasks, both teams welcome the beer challenge. "Hell yeah!" Mr. Big Brother Lover says. Miss SC doesn't like beer, so it fell on the Mr. to drink. But he has to take a time-out to throw up outside. "If we get eliminated, I'm going back to that bar," Miss Big Brother Lover says.
After getting hammered, racers must go to Beatles-Platz, a monument honoring the Fab Four. Then they then have to run through the red-light district and find the Indra club, the first place the Beatles played in Hamburg and the pit stop for this leg. After seeing a group of hookers in the area, Jet says, "Cord, we are no longer in the Bible Belt."
The detectives, who have remained in the bottom of the race, snag the first victory and ruin the cowboys' winning streak. Dad and daughter come in second, another surprise since the underdogs also stayed in the back of the pack. The marrieds take third. Looks like a bum cab driver and switching detours got the best of the Big Brother Lovers, as they come in last. But fans won't say goodbye to their favorite reality-TV couple just yet—it's a non-elimination round.
Teams don military garb and go to battle in a World War I reenactment scene.
