Best Idea Ever: Plane Spotting By the Pool in Atlanta

Where: Hartsfield-Jackson Airport [map], Atlanta, GA, United States

Over at our awesome sister site, HotelChatter.com, they're discussing a very important matter: What are the best airport hotels to get stuck staying in? This is a topic we can get behind, especially when it includes the glorious picture above, of the indoor pool at the Marriott Renaissance Concourse Hotel at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. And you know what, this looks like the ideal plane spotting location for ATL.

Just think about it: you're doing laps in the pool, or just floating tummy-up, and a 747 taxiing on the runway for a departure to Madrid goes rolling by. We're shuddering with delight at the thought. It's possibly the most indulgent and leisurely way to go about plane spotting, and with all of the air traffic Atlanta gets, we bet this pool sees some sweet action at night too.

Room rates for the Renaissance Concourse Hotel at ATL begin at $199 per night, so it's not the cheapest airport hotel around, but for this view...WHO WANTS TO HAVE A POOL PARTY??!!!

Do you know of any great plane spotting locations—at any airport? Let us know in an email or leave us a note in the comments!
