With today's official announcement of the June 18 opening date for Universal Studios' Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, information about the new park is flowing in from all directions. We've put as much as we know about the park into our earlier story, but the main experience—the one that'll be almost an hour long and take place inside of Hogwarts Castle—needs its own story, because we just found out so much more about it!

We learn that not only did the stars of the movies—David Racliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson—film a special mini-movie for this experience, but that they are our guides through the world of Harry Potter, and that we get to play Quidditch with them, feel the chilling effect of a Dementor, have an encounter with the whomping willow and more. Okay so we're more than a little excited.

The verbatim details about the Hogwarts experience, after the jump!

Here's exactly what Universal Studios has said about the "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey" experience:

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey draws you into the excitement and chaos of Harry's life. As you venture through Hogwarts castle, you meet Harry, Ron and Hermione who convince you to skip a planned lecture and follow them. Upon taking their advice, you travel by Floo powder, and begin the adventure as you soar over Hogwarts, narrowly escape a dragon attack, have a close encounter with the Whomping Willow, get pulled into a Quidditch match and more.

The queue includes the following Harry Potter book and film elements: Headmaster Dumbledore’s office, Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, Gryffindor common room, Room of Requirement, and the greenhouse; talking portraits including the Fat Lady and the never-before-seen four founders: Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw; the Sorting Hat, the One-Eyed Witch statue and the Mirror of Erised

And what's more is that they estimate the entire thing to take about an hour, including queuing. The queuing part makes us worry; we'd guess that the line waits for this first season will be over an hour, and that visitors will want to do it more than just once.
