After months of prep work, DC Comics' Green Lantern finally begins filming today in New Orleans, LA. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan who is given the Green Lantern Power Ring and later becomes a founding member of the Justice League of America.

Today, Ryan and company are filming a bar scene at the Old Point Bar, 545 Patterson Drive, New Orleans where they'll stay for the next three days. The signs on the building have been changed to say "Broome’s Bar" and new window decals read “Food & Spirits." Old Point will be closed to patrons until Green Lantern clears out on Wednesday, but Thursday they'll return with drink Specials from 4 to 8 p.m. and live music from Marc Stone.

Where to find Scarlett Johansson, after the jump

For Ryan, filming in New Orleans means a few more weeks away from his wife, Scarlett Johansson, who is currently starring on Broadway in A View From the Bridge with Liev Schreiber. When the couple does reunite, it will be in the Big Apple, where they have a $2 million dollar apartment on the Upper East Side. They're so committed to becoming full time New Yorkers, that they've put their LA home on the market for $4.5 million.

Scarlett recently told David Letterman that after marrying Ryan, she felt like she finally belonged to something bigger than herself. She explained, “We're enjoying evolving our relationship together. I feel that my life and my work are heading in the right direction. Being married is a bit like being part of a tribe.” Yeah, we wouldn't mind joining a tribe either, if it came with a $2 million pad on the Upper East Side.
