Updated! Our Map of Airports Around the World With Free WiFi

February 2, 2010 at 2:53 PM | by | Comments (12)

If you haven't out our comprehensive and ever-updating Airport WiFi Map, you totally should! Thanks to tips from readers and our own traveling, we're adding new airport with internet weekly, and today we've happily got three new additions for it!

· BOS - Boston Logan Airport has offered wireless internet in their terminals for some time, but it was always pay-per-hour. After Google so successfully ran a free WiFi promotion over the holiday however, which included Logan, the airport saw internet usage shoot up remarkably, and so—starting now—they've decided to provide travelers with free WiFi through January 2012.

· OMA - Omaha Eppley Airfield came in on a reader tip. Apparently they've got free WiFi all around, but do beware of a confusing connection process though, which no doubt involves some sort of advertisement or something before you're surfing in the clear.

· SIN - Singapore Changi Airport is consistently named among the top airports in the world, and it's simply massive. Another reader vouched for its free WiFi internet, and we couldn't be happier that not only does Changi have its own magazine and indoor garden, but free and easy internet access.

Know of any other airports with free WiFi? Please let us know and we'll add 'em to the map for everyone's reference!

I heart free airport WiFi

San Diego International Airport (SAN) also offers free WiFi.

"Through January 2012"

So do they think that there will be *less* free wifi in the world a year from now, and that no one will notice that they're the odd airport out? Weird.

yea i know

There's always the option of them extending the offer. Changi is under a 5-year plan for free Wifi that started in 2008, so they're in the same boat.

I thought it was Free?

Sorry to have to be a downer----but why are you pay-wifi places on the map (like Copenhagen, Dublin) Thats not exactly "Free WiFi" when you have to pay to use it... I wonder if airports are going to continue to offer free WiFi...I wish it would, but it does make more sense for airports to charge you a ridiculous fee for it. I mean what do they really gain by offering it free? Hopefully more sponsors will pay for WiFi to be free. I paid 15 dollars for WiFi in Milan MXP. The "catch" its 24 hour access. They add a bunch of value that you'll likely never use, and only offer a 24 hour option so if you want to use WiFi at all even for an hour, you gotta pay big. Such a ripoff.

Anchorage, Juneau free wi-fi

Yo. Anchorage Int'l Airport offers free wi-fi. Additionally, Juneau's airport has free wi-fi, courtesy of local phone company GCI. Free wi-fi rox.

Please remove pin

Great initiative! But what's that pin doing in the middle of the Atlantic? At first I thought it referred to Sao Tomé & Principe but it's about a thousand miles off...

Thanks!

This is great! I think a lot of folks will see value in this on Twitter. - Garrett

a lot

Check this out: http://forum.airliners.de/index.php?showtopic=43908 Its a german forum but you can use google translater.

Delhi

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has free wifi. All you need to do is send a text to the wifi provider from your mobile and they send you login details by return text. It takes seconds, gives you no hassle and the wifi speed is quite good as well.

Reno-Tahoe

Reno-Tahoe WiFi is NOT free. Overall, this map is a great start. Thanks!

BHM (Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International)

BHM has free wi-fi throughout the airport, and was excluded from the list, and it's a SWA southern hub. Strange that MGM was included and BHM wasn't. JFK has free Wi-Fi in most of its Delta hubs, not just the Crown Room, and PHL has free Wi-Fi near the USAir Customer Service desk, and free throughout the terminals for students. Also, I was just in PIT a little less than a month ago, and they did not have free accessible wi-fi in the terminal I was in.

Geneva Airport (GVA)

Geneva now has free wifi throughout the airport. The access is similar to what @zuberino reports for Delhi. When you first connect, you provide your mobile number, and they send you a code via sms. Officially you only get one hour, but you can keep getting new access codes indefinitely.
