Brush Up on Your Beatles Knowledge With Summer School at Oxford University

You'll get schooled in the Beatles at Christ Church in Oxford.

While smarty-pants head to Oxford for serious academic study, you can go to become a Beatles scholar.

The University of Oxford's Continuing Education Department's 20-year-old Oxford Experience program will offer an intensive class on "The Beatles, Popular Music and Sixties Britain" from July 4 to 10. It may not sound like the rigorous courses that one would expect from the hallowed halls of Oxford, but this won't be a class you can sleep through—especially since classes don't have more than 12 students in them.

You'll become an expert on the fab four's sixties reign as you examine the band in its early years through its Abbey Road and Let It Be eras. Plus you get to study in John, George, Ringo and Paul's homeland. Here's the course description:

Revered and reviled in equal measures, the sixties continue to fascinate. This course is a journey through it from the British perspective, noting key events in politics, society and the arts. We will trace the development of the music of the Beatles and place their songs in context by discussing examples by other notable British groups of the period. However familiar you think this music is, prepare to hear more in it than before.

Listening to Beatles classics will make this a summer school worth attending. Classes meet weekdays from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. and then at 11:15 to 12:45 p.m., which means you'll have the afternoons and evenings free to do sightseeing. So it won't be a bunch of hard day's nights. Though you can opt to participate in organized after-school activities like a tour of Oxford, an Oxford rivers and castle walk, or a guided pub walk (after all, you are in England).

The six-day course, including tuition, student accommodations and meals, costs £1050, or $1,675.38. And don't worry about being forced to room with some hooligan; the rooms are singles.

I was just searching online for rn to bsn online programs when I found your interesting story here. Should anyone pay 1000 pounds for 6 days of school on the Beatles? I mean, you can study that online very easily. I understand that they offer accommodation and food but still, from my point of view that is a little bit hefty.

Oxford

It is interesting to go there, but I think it is something more like vacation or entertainment other than education. I wish they would have some more useful programs, such as Online RN to BSN I'd like to do there to take some classes, may be entire semester for my specialty

Online RN to BSN

My favorite part of this blog post is "Listening to Beatles classics will make this a summer school worth attending." I love the Beatles! I'm already enrolled in my RN TO BSN Online program but this sounds cool too!
