The TSA to Begin Swabbing Passenger's Palms at Airport Security
Just as we're getting used to the idea of enduring a full-body scan at airport security, the TSA goes and introduces another measure to keep bombs off of planes, but keep the security lines long and slow.
They will begin swabbing passenger's hands for traces of explosives. The checks will be random, but the command to "put your palms forward" is sure to sure to shock those who don't travel frequently enough to know that this is the newest security measure. Of course this is a response to the Christmas Day crotch bomber, but who knows if he would have been pulled aside for random swabbing and if it would have found explosive traces on him, had they even been swabbing then.
At least this is one move that people are unlikely to protest, since it involves minimal invasion of privacy and is extremely quick. The swabbing device takes under a minute for the actual swabbing and the reading of the sample from your hands. But now the big question is: will the swabs be able to detect explosive traces even after the person has used Purell?
