Jaunted Winter Olympics Embed: Where The Party At?

The 2010 Winter Olympics are finally here and the Jaunted Embeds are on the scene. All throughout the games we are going to be providing you first-hand observations and tips from a Vancouver local. Tuija Seipell is a Vancouver-based writer and a dual citizen of both Finland and Canada--so she is bound to get a medal or two right? As you can imagine, everyone in town for the Olympics Games is in a good mood with excited folks sharing experiences with one another, asking questions and giving tips. But just where is all this "action" happening? Why, Downtown Vancouver of course.

The most happening of the free options downtown are the two Live Cities, Live City Yaletown and Live City Downtown which host concerts and stream the medal ceremonies on mega-screens, as well as the GE Robson Square with its free public skating, entertainment stage, the Zipline, and awesome nightly light shows at 9:30 and 11 p.m.

One of the three Olympic ticket sites is at Robson Square as well, and as we told you yesterday, ticket line-ups are practically the new Match.com.

For the Live City sites (and all Olympic events), the less stuff you carry with you, the better. There is a security check at most entrances, and it can really slow you down if you end up in the slower gear-check line-up. And despite the accident yesterday at the Live City Yaletown when a barricade collapsed during a concert, injuring 19 people--the venue has reopened with Live Nation officials assuring the public that the new barricade is completely safe and sturdy.

In addition to minding your safety during a crowd bum rush at Live City, remember you might be on camera too. The Live City "Consent to be photographed...in perpetuity and throughout the universe" pretty much covers it all!

Insider Tip: In need of Olympic swag? All of the sports venues and at least the Downtown Live City have Olympic Merchandise shops, too.
