Forget Boring Offices, Because Dubai's 'Underwater Zoo' Wants Student Interns Too

Dubai's Burj Khalifa's 124th-floor observation deck may have shut down, but college students have another excuse to travel to the city: a highly sought-after internship at the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo. Oh, to be frat-age again.

To be eligible, students have to be at least 16 years old and the preference will go to those studying marine science, teaching or a tourism-related subject. Students from all over the world are encouraged to apply.

While the internship is designed to give students experience on all aspects of managing an aquarium, it also caters to your particular area of interest within the aquarium industry. For example, Kaltham Abdulla, the program's first intern, is studying education in Zayed University. So the 23-year-old chose to do research in developing new programs that will teach children about conservation and the environment.

One thing's for sure, you should be prepared to get dirty; this isn't a gig where you'll just be observing. Some of your expected tasks include preparing food for the animals and cleaning. But don't expect to be able to play with the animals. To protect the health and safety of the critters, the aquarium prohibits any direct contact with any of its 33,000 aquatic animals during the internship.

The aquarium asks that you make at least a two-week commitment and put in 40 hours a week. To apply, email enquiries@thedubaiaquarium.com.

wow what a fantastic job and the place looks pretty awesome too. Would love to visit Dubai and get to see all the architecture, shame that they never got round to completing the world islands.
