THE RACE
Teams stay in St. Petersburg and head to Avtovo Circus to get the next clue. The home shopping hosts are pumped. "I hope I get to wear a leotard!" Brook squeals. "Who says that?" Claire asks.
DETOUR
At the big top, teams are faced with a detour: circus band or circus clown. In band, an accordion player teaches the team how to play a Russian folk ditty, and they must perform it correctly. In clown, teams learn traditional plate-spinning routine and must do it themselves for at least 10 seconds.
We find out that tatted guy has a childhood fear of clowns. "Don't touch me," he tells a clown while he spins plates. And showing his nasty side, he calls his girlfriend a dumbass during the task.
For the band task, the teams have to learn parts of a song, which none of the racers were happy about. "It's like Guitar Hero," Peter Pan says. The docs come up with their own numerical code for the accordion keys and get outta there quickly. Although they were the last leg's winners, hairy and the hairdresser drop to last place because they wasted time going from plates to music then back to the plates.
The home shopping ladies are the first to get their plates spun, and they then have to find Bank Bridge. From there, teams must travel via foot, without the help of a cab, to the historic building 1 Vladimirskiy Prospekt Tower. They have to climb the tower and figure out that the little figurine on the ledge is a replica of the Church on Spilled Blood, the next stop.
The docs and the tatted couple don't see the figurine at first, and they have no idea what to do. When they see it, tatted guy decides to sabotage the other teams and tell the YouTubers and the home shopping hosts that they only found something about DS-13. The younger YouTuber is a bit hesitant to believe him and goes to find the figurine on his own. He isn't happy when he sees the tatted couple at the church. "We want to beat em now we wanna say lying is not gonna help you," younger YouTuber says.
At the church, there's a riddle—where was Peter the Great buried?—that leads racers to Peter and Paul Fortress. On the way to the fortress, the home shopping hosts realize they misread a past clue and were supposed to walk to from the tower to the church. So they backtrack to the tower to make the trek on foot.
ROADBLOCK
At the fortress' court, there's a difficult Russian version of bowling called gorodki set up. Using a wooden bat, teams have two tries to clear the pins; when they do, racers must do it all over again for a new formation of pins. Doc Kat rocks at the game. Brook shakes her bootie and dances as she plays gorodki while a couple of middle schoolers watch. It's no surprise that a game of throwing stuff is no sweat for aggression-filled tatted guy.
But others struggle with the bat bowling game. Older YouTuber can't get the hang of it. And while the team arrived there second, they are among the last two teams there. Tinkerbell also has trouble clearing the pins. Finally, the older YouTuber finishes and the team heads to the pit stop.
PIT STOP
Teams must go into the Peter and Paul Fortress' bastion. The docs score another victory; the first-place team members will $5,000 apiece. The home shopping hosts come in second and the tatted couple third.
OUSTED
Since the pit stop is in the fortress, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell decide they have a fighting chance if they ditch their bags and go straight to the finish line. They do make it just before the YouTubers. But Phil tells them they have to go back and pay their cabbie. They broke some rules: a cab led them to the tower, then they took a cab from the tower to the Church of Spilled Blood. It landed them an hour penalty.
Peter and and Tinkerbell return after paying their cabbie, only to find that they too broke a rule; they took a taxi to the church as well. It landed them a half-hour penalty, which got them last place. That means the YouTubers were eliminated.
NEXT WEEK
Peter Pan and Tinkerbell oversleep and miss out on the race. Hope they have magic up their sleeves.
