The TSA Has a New Target for Their Watch Lists: Actor Mark Ruffalo

Oh, thank god for the TSA's Watch List, otherwise dangerous people like actor Mark Ruffalo would be able to board flights like a normal person, thereby endangering the general public. Confused yet? Well, according to the Daily Mail, Ruffalo has been added to one of the TSA Terrorist Watch Lists—not the No-Fly one that completely denies him air travel, but the one that consistently flags him for pat-downs, additional questioning and the like. And it's all because of some support he threw to a controversial movie about natural gas. Wait, what?

We're as boggled about all this as you are, obviously. Ruffalo has been organizing screenings of the new documentary GasTown GasLand, which follows the journey of a man (not Ruffalo) as he visits towns and individual homes affected by the drilling of natural gas companies. It's a bit Michael Moore-ish, yes, but the preview clip—watch that here—doesn't allude to any terrorist-type activities.

Perhaps Ruffalo has been doing something a little more than just organizing the screenings, we don't know, but he's hardly the type of person we'd expect to land on a TSA Watch list. So much for celebrities getting the star treatment even at airport security...

Gasland

I saw that movie almost a year ago at a film festival in Columbia, Mo (it's actually called Gasland, not Town). It is a very moving film, and although the idea of a man hunting down the victims may seem like a Michael Moore-type movie, it is much less aggressive. Under no way should the film alone be enough to make the TSA cautious of him. I hope that there is another reason, otherwise it shows a new low in our public security.
