The name René Gruau may not be instantly recognizable, but you fashionistas and art aficionados will know his illustrations, which captured the energy and elegance of his friend Dior's designs. You can see his influential work in the just-opened exhibit "Dior Illustrated: René Gruau and the Line of Beauty" at London's Somerset House.

The exhibit pays homage to iconic Italian illustrator René Gruau, who changed fashion images in the 20th century with his distinctive bold lines and fluid graphic style.

You'll see original illustrations for Christian Dior Parfums, vintage perfume bottles, posters, sketches and magazines. Bonus: Current Dior designer John Galliano also chose to exhibit a selection of Dior haute couture dresses, including one of his own designs, to honor Gruau.

To accompany the exhibit, there are a number of programs that will have fashion fiends scrambling in their Louboutins, including "Masters of Disguise," where you can make a headpiece inspired by Gruau's hats, masks and veils, and "Perfume: Capturing the Spirit of Dior Fragrance," in which well-known perfume experts will talk about the scents behind Gruau's illustrations.

The Somerset House—which focuses on fashion, art and design from all over the world—will display the exhibit through January 9. Admission is £6, or almost $10.
