'Connect by Hertz' Promises to Connect You with New York Area Airports This Year

In case public transportation isn’t your thing, there’s a new option from Hertz to help you get to the airport this holiday season.

Connect by Hertz—that’s their car sharing program—is now allowing pick-ups in Manhattan and drop-offs to New York City area airports. Rental car rules usually don’t allow this kind of thing in and around New York, and Hertz is claiming that they’ll be the only car-sharing program in the country to allow customers to get rid of their car at the airport, rather be than the original pick-up location.

They’re working on rolling out the new option, and it should be available for booking and driving within the next moth or so. You’ll be able to pick up your car at the Hertz location on West 55th Street, and then dump your rental at JFK, LaGuardia, or Newark.

Membership into the Connect by Hertz program costs $50 per year, and it usually charges users by the hour. However, this airport option will be a flat fee, and best of all there will be no need to tip your driver! It might not beat the convenience of taking a taxi—especially since they can drop you off just steps from security—but we’re always in favor of another way to get to the airport.
