In Santa Fe, the nation's oldest capital, you have to always keep an eye out for these blink-and-you'll-miss-it nook and crannies, which are everywhere. It's a bit easier at this time of the year, which is the low tourist season for the city. The streets aren't packed with travelers and you have more room to explore.
We wish you were here to be able to peruse the abundant art galleries filled with American Indian, contemporary and other art without having to elbow your way to a painting. Plus, it's fall here. While there isn't much fall foliage to see, the air is nice and crisp, which makes it perfect for walking around the historic downtown. Though the chilly fall weather makes us want to warm up with a chile-laden New Mexican meal that's spicy enough to clear our sinuses. That's what we'll be doing between visiting shops.
