New Routes Get You to Oslo, Shanghai, Memphis and Everywhere in Between

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· SAS Airlines:
We’re no Al Roker, but we’re pretty sure that Oslo is chilly in March. That’s not stopping SAS, as they are planning to launch brand new service between Newark and Oslo at the end of March. Get comfy about Airbus A330-300 aircraft, especially if you have the cash to sit in one of the 34 business class seats. There will be some premium economy options as well if you just can’t stand the though of coach on a transatlantic long haul. Also—just in case you’re in the neighborhood—SAS will also be flying from Copenhagen to Shanghai next year as well.

· Delta:
This week’s new option from Delta isn’t as exciting as their announcement from a couple weeks ago about Angola, but we’ll take what we can get. Despite shrinking down their base in Memphis, they’re launching a new nonstop option to Mexico City. Starting January 8 they’ll send Airbus A319 jets once a week on Saturday. Mexico City doesn’t have the beaches of the country’s resort destinations, but this will probably make some business-type-people pretty happy.

· Southwest Airlines:
Slowly but surely they are going to take over all of the country’s airports, but this week Southwest Airlines is focusing on places like Tennessee, Washington, and California. The free bags will be flying from Nashville to San Diego, Kansas City, Seattle, and Providence, beginning when the warmer weather comes around next year. They’re mixing things up next spring, and will also be adding some new seasonal flights while reducing flights to places like Fort Myers and Phoenix.

· United Airlines:
Remember last week when American Airlines was all proud of their new flight to China? Well someone else in Los Angeles was pretty jealous, and now they’re looking to get in on the sweet and sour chicken for themselves. United Airlines has announced that they’re also planning to fly from LA to Shanghai. It’s not totally official yet, but the airline has asked Uncle Sam for the okay to do so about six weeks following the new flights that American Airlines has planned. Maybe all these new options can get us to China for a little less Renminbi.

· Hawaiian Airlines:
Residents of Hawaii just got a little luckier, as they’ll now have a new option to roll the dice with nonstop service between Maui and Las Vegas. Hawaiian Airlines will run flights to Sin City on Mondays and Thursdays—awesome for a long weekend—and the routes will be served by Boeing 767-300 aircraft. Returning flights will head back to paradise on Sundays and Wednesdays right around dinnertime assuming that you didn’t pawn your return ticket.
