Where Is Next Weekend's World Beer Festival?

We’re only about a week away from the World Beer Festival in Columbia, South Carolina. All About Beer Magazine has been putting on festivals like this for several years, and even though most hop-heads don’t travel across the globe to attend, the organizers do a great job of having plenty of libations from around the world. We’ve attended their offerings in North Carolina before and definitely think it’s worth your time.

There’s going to be at least 250 different beers for everyone to sample, and they’ll be coming from craft brewers, microbreweries, and even breweries that have enough cash to advertise during the Super Bowl. We’re happy that Anheuser-Busch is attending the festival, but we’re going to have to pass on the Bud Light Golden Wheat—thanks anyway.

Although most in attendance will be focused on drinking, there will be some other action going on as well. Live entertainment will be taking place throughout the day, and every hour or so experts from the magazine will get up on stage to teach everyone a thing or two about beer; just remember to bring a pen to take notes.

Things get underway next Saturday, January 16, and there will be two different sessions taking place at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. There’s an afternoon session from 12pm to 4pm, and an evening session from 6pm to 10pm. Tickets will cost you $40 per session if you order ahead of time, and that you will get you a sampling glass and access to all the booze. The brewers will pour two-ounce samples, and they’ll be eager to share their suds, so don’t hesitate to ask for refills from your favorites.
