Astronauts Are Now Live Tweeting from Outer Space

It's official, Twitter travel has gone intergalactic. NASA Flight Engineer TJ Creamer sent out space's first live tweet from the International Space Station, which has a wireless connection.

For his first tweet, Creamer encouraged his more than 27,000 tweeps to send him and his crew some questions: "Hello Twitterverse! We r now LIVE tweeting from the International Space Station—the 1st live tweet from Space! :) More soon, send your ?s"

And the twitterverse has obliged, asking for photos of Earth and basic travel questions, such as what's for breakfast there (rehydrated granola with blueberries and a veggie quiche) and what's the most beautiful country from up in space ("2 hard 2 answer, cuz it is ALL gorgeous; could gaze ALL DAY out the window it is all so pretty!").

Creamer has tweeted about seeing the Great Wall of China and gave a link that enables people to follow the crew's adventures. But he also sends out regular old updates about what he's doing in space when he isn't working, like watching movies and exercising, which sounds like the typical self-involved twitter updates we're used to.

To ask your own questions, hit Creamer up at Astro_TJ and his other crewmates, who are also live tweeting, ISS Commander Jeff Williams at Astro_Jeff and Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi at Astro_Soichi.

Perhaps Twitter will now also become a new amenity in Virgin Galactic flights, because duh, a tweet from space is totally better than a tweet from 35,000 feet.
