Macau, often called the Vegas of Asia, is the place to drop some serious cash. Mega resorts founded in Las Vegas have set up shop in Macau as well. The Venetian, a favorite among tourists because of its own outdoor canal exactly scaled to the real Venice canals. The Wynn, Sands and MGM Hotels are there too, with their own mega-casinos, also competing with upscale entertainment as well as gaming. Although there are adventures in gambling, there are a few unique adventures to Macau worth experiencing.

Have you ever heard of Hashing? Well, in Macau, there are two groups to hash with. TMH3 is Taipa Macau Hash House Harriers, so if you’re there on a Saturday or Sunday join their hash. The other MMH3 Macau Men's Hash—sorry ladies, meet on the last Monday evening of the month, so if your timing is right, hash along with them as well. What is hashing you ask? A non-competitive group of runners who run, drink and socialize. It’s a great way to meet and hang with locals, and get to know a city.

After the jump, Adventure Girl hits the Grand Prix and more

For those who dream of one day driving in the Macau Grand Prix, think karting—one has to start somewhere! In all seriousness, this is considered recreation for locals and a sport for those competitive types. Either gear up in a track kart, or sideline it in the band stands; whatever you do, call ahead to make sure it’s not “race day.”

The Macanese think of exercise as an integral part of their day. You will find most parks, and alcoves in the city placed with some kind of exercise equipment and usually with someone using it. Most mornings in Casa Park, retired ladies with beautiful feather fans practice ancient Chinese dances. Gather around to watch this lovely display, or ask to be a part of the practice. They will love you for it!

Being Adventure Girl and always looking for the next thrill, I give props to the Macau Tower for offering a series of extreme adventures for we adventure enthusiasts. I get chills just thinking about it! Pick your vice—a mast climb on the world’s 10th tallest free-standing tower by climbing up the masts vertical ladders 1100 plus feet above the city, or “SkyJump” it with a 700-foot drop/20-second free-fall to the ground. Don’t worry, you’re harnessed. Or simply, if it’s not too windy, walk around the main outer rim of the tower 700 feet above the ground. You can also bungee off it, or sport-climb it from the ground up.

Fun, fun, fun!
