The Top Three Coolest Concerts Coming to New Meadowlands Stadium

January 15, 2010 at 12:04 PM | by | Comments (0)

Unless the New York Jets somehow make it to the conference championship game against the Baltimore Ravens, professional football is over at Giants Stadium. Saying adios to the old place at the Meadowlands is fine by us, because that allows for the New Meadowlands Stadium to swing open its doors. There’s a lot to do before the NFL 2010 football kickoff, but to get things started there will be plenty of summer fun.

Here’s some of the concerts that you might want to add to your calendar, because you know you want to be one of the first inside new stadium.

The Top Three Anticipated Concerts at the New Meadowlands, after the jump

· The Bamboozle
The Bamboozle festival was born from the former Skate and Surf Festival, so expect rock, punk-pop, ska, and whatever else kids these days are listening to. There’s two festivals on opposite coasts, but the one that plays at the Meadowlands begins on April 30. The weekend starts with Hoodwink—where lesser known bands play covers of bands like No Doubt, Foo Fighters, and Rage Against the Machine. Paramore will close things down on May 1, and Weezer will do the same on May 2 during the official Bamboozle.

In the past this festival has taken place in the parking lots around the stadium, so while the new stadium will be the host, it might actually not be. So just be aware that you might need to sneak inside if you want to check out the new place. Three-day passes will set you back $116, and if you just want to see the official Bamboozle bands it will be $104 for a two-day pass.

· Bon Jovi
Jon Bon Jovi and crew will be warming things up for the new stadium’s summer season. They’ll be playing three nights on May 26, 27, and 29. There’s no show scheduled for May 28—that’s the Friday before Memorial Day weekend—but we’re thinking they could add a fourth show if ticket sales are strong. Speaking of which, seats are still available and they come in a variety of options from $36.50 to $150. Just make sure you account for the convenience and facility charges before taking out the plastic.

· U2
Bono, The Edge, and the other two guys that don’t have catchy names will be returning to the New York area this summer on July 19—it’s a Monday so start thinking of ways to get out of work on Tuesday. The band traveled around the world last year, but liked it so much, they’re doing it again. Last year’s shows were hard tickets to get, but if you’re a big spender, you can still snag mid-level seats for this show. However, they are going to cost you $250 each. Cheaper options start at $30—but seem to already be sold out.
