One of the best working vacations was a £10,000 trip to Antigua to check things out before the Duchess of York arrived with her children. Another good one was a trip to Mauritius by a group of royal protection officers. They needed to arrive weeks beforehand to ensure that Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy would be safe, apparently from all those sharp sticks in umbrella cocktails.
The general rule is that business class trips are allowed for Scotland Yard officers on a case by case basis; however, these trips need to be approved and signed off on by a supervisor. It sounds like a lot of supervisors donít have too much ink left in their pens. There doesnít appear to be an immediate corrective action plan in place, but all the Ryanair tickets that will be booked in attempt to fix the situation will be punishment enough.
