A Must-See In Milwaukee: The Award-Winning Bronze Fonz Statue

September 8, 2009 at 3:44 PM | by JetSetCD | 1 Comment

Just when you think you're cool, a Bronze Statue of The Fonz from Happy Days goes and accepts an award for being exactly that: really darn cool. Over the weekend, Milwaukee accepted the award on behalf of the Fonzie statue they erected back in August 2008.

Officially, the reason for the honor from the National Council for Destination Organizations (whatever that is) is that the city has done such a great job of marketing the statue and the city as a tourism destination because of it, that they've raised over $17,000 for a literacy program from sales of autographed cast posters and contributions. Of course Henry Winkler was on hand to pose with his metal doppelganger.

If you'd like to take a photo next to the now award-winning sculpture, mimicking its smiling, two-thumbs-up pose, then you can find the Bronzed Fonz along the downtown Riverwalk in Milwaukee, right in front of the Rock Bottom Brewery. Just be cool, you know—no getting drunk and then licking the Fonzie's ear, because...gross.
