Summer May Be Over, But Off-Season Deals Are Just Beginning

September 8, 2009 at 5:24 PM | by Heidi Atwal | 2 Comments

Let's collectively take a moment to mourn the end of summer, a season rich with getaways and celebrations like last weekend's definitive season-ender, Labor Day. While the masses file back to reality, we're not convinced that summer's close has to put a violent halt to our travel plans. If anything, the end of summer marks the beginning of off-season deals, which we gladly welcome to pocket some extra cash.

Keeping tabs on Travelzoo's Twitter feed is a smart way to stay wise to travel discounts which pop up from time to time, whether you're planning an overseas trip or are firmly in staycation mode. We found a couple that are worth noting, including a host of ticket discounts for everything from Mets games to two-for-one tickets to see Hairspray, if you happen to be in London.

But one of the more appealing post-Labor Day deals we've found is for travel to Canada from many of the States' major cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Boston. We're already thinking watching the leaves turn colors in Victoria, or getting the closest thing to a European excursion in Montreal's idyllic atmosphere.

Book your travel by September 22nd to take advantage of flight savings, not to mention no fuel surcharge and two free checked bags. Prices range from $144 to $319 (one-way tango plus fares), and the fees are valid for travel until December 10th. If you're heading to Montreal, @Travelzoo also alerts us to a staggeringly low $90 per night hotel deal at The Delta for stays through the month of September. You'll need to move quickly, though; the 50% discount needs to be booked by tomorrow.

So buck up, wanderlusters. The three-day weekend may be behind us, but there's a new season of travel to come. As always, if you've found any amazing travel deals, we'd love to hear about your fall excursions in the comments, or via Twitter (@Jaunted, natch).

    Travelzoo has great hotel deals

Travelzoo does have a great twitter feed for hotels and packages (flight deals for them are filled with "*as low as", it's better dealing with the twitter feed, the actual site looks like a fifth grader made it in Microsoft paint.
