Aeromexico No Longer Minds A Few In-Flight Cell Phone Calls

Where: Mexico

Get your earplugs ready—on Monday, Mexico lifted a law banning in-flight cell phone use, and now Aeromexico is licking its chops at the thought of giving their passengers the privilege of phoning home first.

With the law gone and Aeromexico's already stating that passengers would be allowed to use their cell phones in-flight, except for during takeoffs, landings, and when flight attendants say not to, we dare you to test it out on your flights to Mexico this Labor Day weekend. Perhaps on your way home on Monday night, call for a cab and then for Thai takeout, all the while flying 35,000-feet somewhere above Louisiana.

Of course, if you're simply so high up that you can't get a ground signal, we recommend going to airplane mode and awaiting the day when Aeromexico and others, like Emirates get airplane antennas installed for the purpose of making cell phone calls. Ryanair was already first out of the gate on this idea, but only because it means more pocket money for them, and we've already deduced that they care nothing for passenger comfort.

Nonetheless, we're still big fans of the "airplane mode" and relish the hours spent away from constantly incoming emails, text messages, and—ahhem—even Let us know in the comments!

    International calls

The world is moving even faster than before, gone are the days where we would kick back on the plane because electrical devises were not allowed, now we open the laptop and can make calls as well. I will be glad of it so I can spend more time with my family when I get home. I use a Tracfone because I can make international calls to over 100 country's for the same price as a local call which means that I can do more business all over the world and while in the air.
