'Naked Chef' Jamie Oliver Goes Carbon-Neutral For New Travel Show

September 4, 2009 at 8:59 AM | by JetSetCD | 0 Comments

Yes, you are allowed to ask why in tarnation is Naked Chef Jamie Oliver dressed all of the Village People, all at once. The Photoshop job is actually to promote the British debut of his new travel show, "Jamie's America," where the famous TV chef skips from England to the US for a road trip through the various foods of yankee social groups.

In case you're not interested in watching yet another personality hobnob with locals around the country, trying their homefried chicken, then perhaps you'll be more intrigued by what the show is looking to do: become the first carbon-neutral travel television show.

Jamie is all about natural eating, the reason for "naked" in his other show's name, and was reasonably unhappy with the environmental impact of his traveling for the filming; that's what 12 ฃ5,000, first-class flights across the Atlantic will do to you. Ecorazzi notes that Jamie Oliver Limited then "collaborated with ClimateCare, to select projects that included solar power installations in India, using wind power in China and providing energy-efficient stoves in Cambodia" as a way to offset the carbon emissions.

Too bad for now it's only Britain that gets to watch Jamie, the carbon-neutral traveling TV chef, showing the "real taste of America" by "serving food to the immigrant community on the streets of New York's Queens district as well as visiting Arizona's Navajos and the hurricane-struck residents of Louisiana." Yummy.
