Texas Tubing Sounds Totally Tempting For Labor Day

September 3, 2009 at 3:14 PM | by | Comment (1)

Check your calendar, because the end of summer is near! However, there’s no need to panic if you find yourself near Austin for the Labor Day weekend. Not only is Schlitterbahn, one of the country’s best water parks, just around the corner, but there’s also a pretty good tubing spot. We’ve spent a lot of time on the water this season, so we thought one more nugget would hold us over until next Memorial Day.

Canyon Lake is home of River Sports Tubes, and they are all about having fun on the Guadalupe and Comal Rivers. Just remember not to have too much fun since boozing while cruising is totally fine on this tube trip. However, if you’re going on Sunday, just wait to crack open a cool one until after noon. It’s illegal to drink in public before that—way to go Texas.

Trips down the river will set you back $15, and that includes a life vest and your tube. Depending on how the river is flowing, which you can check here, your trip will range from a mile to over two miles. Give a call before you head out in case you don't trust their online weather report.

Best of all, there’s no need to leave Rover at home. Dogs are welcome, but we’re pretty sure most furry friends would rather stay at home. That doggie paddle looks like it gets pretty tiring.

Guadalupe River Tubing - Labor Day Weekend 2009

Hey Kyle,

Great post and just in time for the Last BIG 3 Day Holiday Weekend of the summer... Labor Day Weekend!  Although Labor Day weekend is not what it once was because school keeps starting earlier and earlier every year... what a rip-off for everyone's summer vacation!

That being said, River Sports Tubes is one of my favorite Outfitters on the Guadalupe River and I have tubed there many times... great service and a very friendly staff. They have a couple of excellent posts on their Website that are very informative for anyone who plans on river tubing over the Labor Day Weekend or any other time for that matter.

My first recommended post is their "Tubing Checklist", which is a good read to make sure you are well prepared before you leave home, so you can have a great time when you get to the river.

My second recommended post is all about "River Rules", which can be found by clicking on this link: "New River Rules"

River Rules are very important to know about BEFORE you go to the river... I highly recommend taking a look at both of these posts I've mentioned here before leaving home. If the links I've just provided don't work for some reason, you can go directly to www.RiverSportsTubes.com and find the same info.

Last Tip before heading to the river this weekend... if you need to rent a cabin, an RV site or find a campground, River Sports Tubes has a Webpage dedicated to "Places To Stay". Lodging and campgrounds book up pretty quickly for Holiday Weekends, so the sooner you make your reservations, the better your chances of getting availability.

See ya'll on the river, I'll be floatin Saturday and Sunday... I'll have on my White Western Straw Cowboy Hat.

Have fun, be safe and Happy Trails!
