Get cheap French eats at Bleu Bohème during San Diego Restaurant Week.

The Restaurant Weeks in New York and LA attracted so many diners that the cities decided to add second courses of the culinary event. San Diego is feeling just as generous, also dishing out extra days for Restaurant Week by adding a fall event to the original offerings which were supposed to end last week.

Officials have extended San Diego Restaurant "Week" until September 25. You'd think that all of this Restaurant Week love should be a hint to restaurants that they should permanently add affordable three-course menus during this recession. Still, until they get a clue, we'll recommend some additional places in San Diego where you can get a great meal deal during the extension.

Our Top Five Picks for the San Diego Restaurant Week extension, after the jump.

· Coronado Boathouse 1887
Head to lovely Coronado to eat at the Coronado Boathouse 1887, whose $30 prix fixe meal includes New England clam chowder as a starter and macadamia nut-crusted Alaskan halibut served over peanut sauce topped with a mango puree and teriyaki glaze as an entree.

· Cucina Urbana
Locals are fawning all over Italian spot Cucina Urbana in Banker's Hill. Its $30 package offers appetizer options like fried squash blossoms with herb ricotta, purple basil pesto and cured lemon dressing. For entrees, there's short rib pappardelle with cremini mushroom and parmigiano.

· George's at the Cove
Diners come to La Jolla's George's at the Cove for the ocean view, but you'll go for main courses like grilled hanger steak with roasted tomato, goat's cheese panade, onion-mustard jam, smoked garlic, spinach and red wine sauce or local basil-crusted Loch Duart salmon with succotash, bacon, aioli and watercress.

· Oceanaire
A good Gaslamp Quarter seafood standby is Oceanaire, where for $40 you get apps like Maryland blue crab cakes and main dishes like stuffed Oregon petrale sole with blue crab, bay shrimp, Brie and lemon beurre blanc.

· Bleu Bohème
For a romantic place, head to Kensington's rustic French Bleu Bohème, where $30 gives you a starter platter with dried sausage marinated in olive oil, small croque monsieurs or a toast with dried cured ham, roquette lettuce and Parmesan. For the entree, there's a half roasted rack of lamb with Dijon, thyme, rosemary and a Cognac and green peppercorn sauce served with fresh herb mash potatoes and green beans.

To reserve your spot, call restaurants directly or book them online at the Restaurant Week website.
