Music Fest NW, which invades various venues around town from September 16-20, offers live proof of what we've long known to be true: Portland rocks. If you're into the psychedelic instrumentals of Explosions in the Sky, Girl Talk's magic handle on the remix, the Arctic Monkeys catchy Brit pop-rock, or the soothing, lullaby-like sounds of Beach House, the lineup is sure to please. It's not as—excuse the pun—one note as other recent festivals we've seen, which is a refreshing change of pace (and sound).
Plus, tickets—in the form of wristbands—are so reasonably priced, it puts other festivals to shame. $60* gets you into all five days of the festival, while $160 will get you VIP access, including a pre-party on the 17th and immediate access to all MFNW shows. And, just to make sure you can get from one ear-popping venue to the next, there's a free shuttle circulating on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM, so you can get the most mileage out of your wristband but reduce your carbon footprint at the same time. We're tickled pink—er, green—at the thought.
*You can save an additional $10 on your wristband through September 7 with this coupon deal, so now there's really no excuse not to go.
