Volunteer At Your Local Airport For An Altruistic Staycation

It's great to be able to take a volunteer vacation, see somewhere new and feel like you're doing good, but not everyone who wants to take such a trip can actually afford it. For those of you who are on more of a staycation budget, there is a way to combine altruism with your love of travel without having to leave town.

It's called Travelers Aid International, and they're located in airport terminals across the country, providing travel information, crisis intervention and general help for vulnerable or at-risk travelers. Their information booths are also located in several train and bus stations. With airports and other stations combined, they served more than 6 million people last year alone.

Travelers Aid is always looking for volunteers who can answer questions in airports around the country, including Chicago O'Hare, DC's Reagan-National Airport, good old New York-JFK, Los Angeles International and New Orleans-Louis Armstrong Airport. All volunteers are trained to help travelers in crisis, and most of the people you'll find lending a hand share a passion for travel themselves.

If hanging out in an airport and helping fellow travelers sounds up your alley, head over to Travelers Aid International's website to fill out the application, and someone will contact you to discuss how you can help.

Its also a good idea to keep Travelers Aid in mind when you travel. They are available to help anyone with any type of need, from basic information about airports and flights to passengers in crisis.

Staycation

I am the owner of http://www.staycationnation.net and always looking for new Staycation ideas to add to my site and really like this idea. I think that it offers people who like to travel and help people a rewarding opportunity.
