In the $20 range, go for Mexican. Casa Guadalajara gives entree options like the pescado Guadalajara, a grilled white fish topped with jalapeño sauce and avocado slices served with Mexican chipotle mashed potatoes and veggies; and shrimp sautéed with tequila, lime, butter and seasoned with garlic and cilantro atop a bed of rice and served with hot tortillas. Cafe Coyote's dessert menu includes a rich Mexican chocolate tequila mousse topped with whipped cream and a quesadilla stuffed with whipped banana, cream cheese and powdered sugar that's garnished with whipped cream, banana slices and a drizzle of dulce de leche.
This is also your time to test out restaurants that are usually out of your price range. Go to Market, where you can get an heirloom tomato salad with blue cheese souffle; cabernet-braised beef shortribs with sweet onion puree, sherry-glazed cipollini onions; and a tempting strawberry cheesecake creamsicle with a warm cardamom doughnut for 40 smackers. For the same price, head to The Marine Room, where alongside a breathtaking view, you can get Fiji macadamia spiced Baja prawns with saffron tabouleh, harissa tomato jam, kohlrabi sprouts, tangerine white port dressing; honey crystal plum-scented Maine diver scallops with red quinoa, basil salad, persimmons and Buddha’s Hand Sake Essence; and for a grand finale, the “Trilogy,” a Kona Kahlúa espresso torte, some blueberry violette pot de crème and a Maltese orange sorbet.
To get the special prix fixe dinners, visit participating restaurants throughout the week. Reservations are recommended, since the foodies will be out in force. To make a reservation, call restaurants directly or book them online at the Restaurant Week website.
