Plus, Manny's has been slinging sammies in the neighborhood since 1942 and looks it. But the lack of fancy-schmancy decor doesn't deter fans like President Obama, who grabs deli staples like the restaurant's signature corned beef sandwich, a latke and a slice of cherry pie for lunch when he's in town.
Comfort food is all over the lunch and dinner menus with matzo ball soup that your bubeleh would approve of, huge knishes doused with gravy, and some tender beef brisket. Manny's is also open for breakfast, and it's one of the rare places in the city where you can get a bialy. It also means you get to start the day with tasty dishes like eggs with corned beef hash and fried matzo brie—a Passover tradition but we'll use any excuse to eat it—either scrambled or pancake-style.
When you see the Manny's spread as you slide your tray down the deli counter, you'll surely forget you're in the land of deep-dish.
