Mandy Moore Can Beat Homesickness With London's Notting Hill Carnival

August 27, 2009 at 11:29 AM | by | Comments (0)

Yesterday, Mandy Moore began shooting the romantic comedy "Swinging With the Finkels" in the UK, which is an extension of Jonathan Newman's short film/internet sensation, "Sex With The Finkels".

On Sunday however, Mandy Tweeted, "in lovely londontown but totally feeling homesick" and yesterday she added, "Day 1 of work in full-swing. Phone is dying and missing home still but it seems to be off to a good start here." Even though she may be homesick for L.A. and is probably missing her husband, Ryan Adams, Mandy is actually in London at a good time. This weekend is the U.K.'s Bank Holiday and there are several festivals happening all over the country, the biggest being The Notting Hill Carnival in London.

The Carnival is one of London's most popular annual celebrations. Masquerade artists in large costumes join steelpan, calypso, reggae, hip-hop, jazz and soul bands on a 3.5 mile-long parade route. The festival also features dozens of stations along the way serving authentic international cuisines and exotic cocktails. The Carnival takes place from 9 am to 6:30 pm on Sunday and Monday in Notting Hill.

Because of the holiday, it is hard to find a London hotel room this late in the game, but we did find one double guestroom at The Hoxton this weekend for £131.15 including in-room Wi-Fi. Grab it quick, and give Mandy our love from the States.
