This Weekend In The World: Corn, Theatre, And The King Of Air & Water Shows

· Chicago
This is the summer weekend to be in Chicago, as the beloved Air & Water Show zooms into town on both Saturday and Sunday, bringing acts like aerial stunt teams, the Air Force Thunderbirds, paratroopers, the Red Bull Mig, and Apache and Blackhawk helicopters and more. Best spot for the action is on North Avenue Beach, picture above, as obviously the action happens directly above it. There will also be Coast Guard demonstrations and more on the water, so those of your with boats on Lake Michigan should pack up your cooler and ship on out.

· Austin, Texas
Warm up your vocal chords for a screaming contest and practice building forts for their popsicle stick building contest; it's Austin's Scoop Festival, celebrating all things ice crea. For more info, check out our story on the event here.

· New York City
The Fringe Festival is back in town, and starting today you can see some of the Big Apple's best off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway theatre for as little as $15 a show. We're old pros at this, so we recommend checking our list of the best bets for the festival here.

· Iowa
Actually taking place in the town of West Point, Iowa's huge Shuckfest 2009 focuses not only on eating corn, but also on shucking it, growing it, and named a beauty queen of it.
