Three Romantic NYC Spots Perfect For An Illustrated Missed Connection

A chance meeting blooms to romance, via the Internet: Sophie Blackall's whimsical drawings capture what we love about reading Craigslist's Missed Connections page. The Brooklyn-based artist specializes in winsome girls in pale pastels with just a touch of the absurd -- as in a recent post where an M train rider laments that he looked "offal" and thus didn't approach the girl of his dreams. Here are some subjects we think Blackall should tackle next:

· Queens Museum of Art (Corona Park): Because we've always wanted to run into a girl wearing "a blue and white checked toga" when it wasn't laundry day. You could have your first kiss in front of the new Colin Powell mural!

· 3rd Street Playground, Prospect Park (Brooklyn): Blackall's willowy figures would translate well into kid-world, while Dad looms, claiming to be looking for just a friend. That slide is a slippery slope!

· The Underground Lounge: Hipster coffee shop by day, locals' dive by night, the Underground is so poorly lit that it would allow Blackall to dip into the dark side of her palette. After Kentucky meets Lyon, they can crawl up the street for a snack at Tom's Restaurant, tourist-ridden by day but blissfully empty at 3AM. (955 West End Ave. and 2880 Broadway, Manhattan)
