Daniel talks about his favorite challenge, with two days left of the trip:
We have been through Switzerland, Austria, Germany and we are soon off to Belgium. We raced through vineyards of the Alps, ice caves of Austria, Nazi shrines and famous breweries. The most rewarding parts of the experience haven't been the points, the chance at a prize, but instead the interaction with the locals. We have made it a point to ask for help from people on the street and made sure to say our pleases and thank yous.
My favorite challenge of the competition has been a scavenger hunt through the "Englisher Garten" in Munich. It involved river surfing, acrobats and filming naked sunbathers (not x-rated though!) in the center of the park.
I have made some great friends and seen some beautiful landscapes. I've met the locals, spoken their language and most importantly have gotten to do this with my mother. This is the prize for me.
Daniel's dispatch from the end of the race:
After 8 days, 5 countries and nearly 3,000 miles... We did not win! But we had such a wonderful time and we did place 4th. We tied with the favorites going into the race, Tyler MacNiven and his mother Margaret. Thank you Jaunted for the opportunity once again. I plan on competing next year.
And there you have it folks, another convert to the church of racing around the globe. Maybe one day you'll get on Amazing Race, but until then there's always Competitours for living out your travel dork fantasies.
