Lance Armstrong Has HomeAway To Thank For His Digs in France

So the Tour de France ended yesterday and our favorite celeb Twitterer Lance Armstrong was not able to capture his former glory, finishing only in third place. Naturally, we had to check up on his Twitter page to see how he felt about that and while we were there, we learned that he used a vacation rentals agency to secure housing for his family in France.

Thanks to @homeaway for hosting me and my family in Paris

HomeAway is an Austin-based vacation rentals marketplace. Here's their little ditty:

The HomeAway website has over 176,000 vacation rental homes, condos, guesthouses, cottages, and cabins in 118 countries. Travelers can search vacation rental listings for free and find accommodations by the night, week or month. For calendar availability and reservations, HomeAway.com directly connects travelers with private homeowners and property managers who know their vacation homes best. Property owners who rent their vacation homes can gain valuable marketing exposure by listing their property on the website for an annual fee.

No word on exactly whose house the Armstrong family shacked up in (and we're guessing that judging by the words in his tweet that the stay was free) but it's refreshing to see someone of his caliber of fame reference such a "normal person's" method of vacation planning. After all, can you imagine Brangelina booking flights through JetBlue's Cheep tweets?

And the Winner Is HomeAway!!

What better way to gather free advertisement than to host a well-known and respected 'celebrity'. J/K!! I think it's great that HomeAway (or maybe it was the home owner's generosity that)supported Lance in France, but whomever it was, it was a precious gift. Lance has done so much for the cancer afflicted patients and their loved ones through the Lance Armstrong Foundation that it's wonderful to see someone return the kindness for Lance and his family. I'll be sure to let all my friends know about @HomeAway. Good Job!!!

Lance Armstrong's stay

What a great idea for everyone. Do we find out the lucky place that the Armstrong's stayed in? I think everyone would like to know. They may have shared the same great experience. Thanks, Joan
