What Are Your In-Flight Fashion Do's and Don'ts?

Not only is this outfit too painful to wear in-flight, it totally clashes with your Komfort Kollar!

Forbes has put forth a new kind of travel list today--Fashion for Frequent Fliers. The designer duds on this list not only look posh (you always want to look presentable in case of an upgrade) but they are made of wrinkle-free and scratch-free fabrics. We're also digging anything on this list that includes the word "elastic."

Forbes put this list together for once high-flying business class passengers who have been unceremoniously dumped to economy class by budget-cutting bosses but for the rest of us frequent fliers who have been slumming it in coach 90 percent of the time, we already have our list of go-to plane wear.

For this Jaunted contributor, black cotton leggings and a chic but roomy tunic have long been in-flight fashion staples (we like the ones with bejeweled necklines from Forever 21. Makes the look a little dressier but the fabric is usually cotton.) The shoes depend on the season but typically, it's anything that's easy on and easy off. We've also been known to sport a pair of neon green fleece socks in case of frigid cabin temperatures.

One article of clothing sure to have us turn into an in-flight fashion Anna Wintour? Sweatpants. Designer sweatpants are ok, but not desired. Those and Komfort Kollars.

It's ok to judge your fellow passengers. We do it all the time so go ahead and add your own In-Flight Fashion Staples in comments below!

Don't

Wear anything sold in the Sky Mall catalog.

Atoning for previous sins

As a kid my mom would have us all wear super '80s track suits on the plane, "Royal Tenenbaums"-style (except we didn't all have to match). Yikes!

My own rules are pretty simple. Do wear a long enough shirt so it doesn't ride up when you're packing an overhead bin. Do dress in layers -- my current favorite is a thick black sweater that has kind of an asymmetrical collar so it looks slightly nicer but keeps you warm. And do make sure your feet look good if you're going to wear flip-flops!

Don't judge a book by it's cover.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm often the guy in first class dressed like a moron. You'll usually find me in dickies shorts and a black t shirt. I have more than a few tattoos as well so I quite often get the wtf are you doing up here looks from other pax and the cabin crew here and there. The funny thing is at the end of the day I more often than not find that I am actually more polite and "classy" on these flights than Mr. Sportcoat and Jeans.

but no komfort kollar, right?

@Freix thanks for sharing. we've totally witnessed some rude sportcoat and jeans folk (accessorized with driving mocs) from our perch is coach. but we were wondering, joel madden of good charlotte almost got denied on british airways bc his tatts were showing. does anyone ever give you a hard time about that?

My biggest issues are...

Almost every time I'm in the first class/elite check in line I am subject to an employee or passenger asking me if I'm aware that this is the elite line. The call 1K-First boarding on UA and some sport coat / cool tooth wearing guy waving his boarding pass around tries to get in front of me letting me know they aren't boarding coach yet. As for my tattoos I've never been harassed, but a FA will ask me about then from time to time. On a flight the other week a United FA sitting in the jumpseat in front of me questioned me about my leg piece for the better part of boarding!
