Fly to Virgin Mobile's FreeFest For Free, Of Course

We hope you were listening when we announced, at the end of last month, that the Virgin Mobile Music Festival would now be the "Virgin FreeFest," and that tickets for the now-free Baltimore-area show were up for grabs that moment.

You see, since then, all 35,000 free tickets have been gobbled up by fans hungry to bands like Weezer, Blink-182, Public Enemy, and Franz Ferdinand, and we totally don't blame them for jumping on free stuff. Still, if you're stuck on the west coast, drooling over the potential awesomeness of attending such a concert, there is now a way to make it happen thanks to the generosity of Virgin America.

It's a contest, of course! Put on your volunteering pants and sign up to work for Stand Up For Kids, a homeless youth outreach organization in Los Angeles and San Diego. Volunteers for the program "will be eligible to win a free round trip flight on Virgin America's FreeFest Express from Los Angeles (LAX) to Washington D.C. (Dulles) on August 29-31, plus a two-night hotel stay and VIP tickets to the hottest concert of the summer."

But the freebies won't stop there; concert attendees—and this mean everyone, not just the volunteers—might find themselves shod in free Converse sneakers, handed free Kyocera cell phones, Playstation Portable downloads (bring your Playstation portable for this), and even Gibson guitars. Music fans are about to be made very happy by all of this.

Virgin becoming a homeless network

Freefest & free flights, awesome! But whats up with virgin and homeless people? Ok cool that they're giving all donations from freefest to homeless people... But I'm a Virgin user, and the cheapest phone card they have available for their regular customers is a $20 card. Supposedly they're coming out with a special $10 / 120 minute phone card for the poor/homeless which they are not planning to offer to their regular customer base. What??? I dig helping the homeless, but seems like i'm paying their cellphone bills too..?
