Make Mini Memories On Polaroid's Bluetooth PoGo Printer

July 16, 2009 at 12:24 PM | by JetSetCD | 0 Comments

We know, we know; no one needs more mobile tech crap to have to lug around with them on a trip, but we have to admit to being dazzled by gadgets that will in any way add to our travel photography while still being pocket-sized. Enter the Polaroid PoGo Mobile Printer, which debuted last year but still seems to be hanging on as far as blatantly unnecessary accessories go.

That's right, we said "blatantly unnecessary." Sorry Polaroid, but let's face the fact that you are good at one thing only: artsy, white-framed instant snapshots, and you don't even produce that film anymore! With the PoGo, which is happily about the size of an iPhone, a bluetooth device such as a smartphone with nice camera capabilities can wirelessly send its shots to be printed as 3x2-inch stickers from this dohicky.

The retail price is $150, although Amazon has them for half that, because we bet everyone that bought one has already gotten tired of it. Unless they happen to be backpackers; this is an awesome tool for those making the round-the-world jaunt, couchsurfing and hosteling it the whole way. Simply snap a pic of you and your new Vienna bar crawl buddies on your phone, and send to PoGo for printing. Stick the results on your bunkmates' toothbrush cases to make them smile in the morning or tack them to a hostel's message board to leave your mark. It's a truly cute idea, and the Zinc ink-less printing technology means no having to buy and change cartridges.

For more specifics, such as the fact that it's not compatible with iPhones (whaaaat?!), Gizmodo has all the dirt.
