The Most Shocking McDonald's Locations In the World

What's a visit to London without a day trip to the Windsor Castle where the Queen spends her weekends? While getting into the castle a few hundred years ago was impossible, today anyone can tour the thousand-year-old fortress everyday from 9:45am to 5:15pm. But if learning about the royal life leaves you feeling a bit oppressed, let your hair down across the street. Exactly opposite of the castle is a McDonald's (and a Starbucks and some other fast food joints.) To see how close the castle is to McDonald's check out this Flickr snapshot.

Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai

The Yuyuan Garden in Shanghai was originally created in 1577 for the parents of a Ming dynasty officer. Throughout the centuries the garden has been destroyed and rebuilt with the final restoration project completed in 1961 when it opened to the public. After you're done sightseeing through the garden's six main scenic areas--Sansui Hall, Wanhua Chamber, Dianchun Hall, Huijing Hall, Yuhua Hall and the Inner Garden--and the ancient teahouse, you can fill up your belly with some Mickey D's across the street.

Museum of Communism, Prague

The highly specific Museum of Communism focuses on the "totalitarian regime from the February coup in 1948 to its rapid collapse in November 1989." Visitors are treated to "immersive factories" such as a historical schoolroom, an interrogation room and the Television Time Machine where they can watch video clips about communism. All of that will have you pleading for comfort food from the free world and you're in luck. There's a McDonald's right below the museum. Once you're done eating, try your hand at the casino next door.

Piazza Matteotti, Siena

Siena is a quaint medieval city in Tuscany, Italy and it's quite small compared with the other big must-stop cities on the Italian Renaissance tour. In fact, it's more like a town than a city but Siena's famous Piazza del Campo--where The Palio (horse races) are held each summer--is actually a UNESCO Heritage site. And just up from this is the Piazza Giacomo Matteotti where you can find a McDonald's that serves you birra and Nuovo McFlurries.

We expect to find McDonalds in urban and suburban areas of the world, but a beachfront McDonald's restaurant? You have to go to Tenerife, the largest island in the Spanish Canary Islands, to experience this. According to Flickr member, Perry Tak, in South Tenerife there's a McDonalds restaurante at the the beach of Fañabe and Torviscas. And yes, there's outdoor seating.
