Do You Use Airport Gyms? How About One Of JFK's 30 XpresSpas?

Forbes just put out a list of "Ten great things to do in airports," presumably because Forbes hadn't done a story about airports in a while. Once you get past the first couple paragraphs—reprinted press releases from the Denver Airport—there are nonetheless a few interesting suggestions.

One paragraph that particularly caught our eye was about the growing number of airport gyms and day spas. Most of the facilities are provided by hotels attached to the airports: the Hilton in O'Hare Terminal 2, the Westin in Detroit's McNamara Terminal, and so on. There's also a growing number of airport spa storefronts; for instance, JFK has over 30 XpresSpas, offering massages, facials, and waxing.

We're admittedly a little bit curious about who's going to all of these. It can't be people on layovers, right? Most layovers don't leave enough time for exercising, showering, and still making the flight. It also can't be travelers who've missed flights and are stuck for the night. They're using their hotels' facilities, and the airport gyms are probably closed anyway.

Therefore, we've whittled down the demographic to frequent travelers that have their airport schedules down to a science, though it can't just be them patronizing so many new facilities. So what kind of people are using these things? If you've ever had the chance to use an airport gym or spa, sound off in the comments and let us know.
