Jon and Kate Plus Separate Weekend Getaways

Jon and Kate Gosselin seem to be handling the stress of a crumbling marriage and 8 kids in very different ways. Over the weekend, Jon was spotted partaking in some retail therapy at the Riverside Square Mall in Hackensack, New Jersey. He reportedly spent more than $2,000 at the Barneys CO-OP while one of the women he was with ("family friends," he said) dropped $595 at Tumi on a bag. Jon definitely wasn't bargain shopping since he also checked out the mall's Louis Vuitton, Cole Haan and Godiva stores.

Meanwhile, Kate and the plus 8 had some fun in the sun on Bald Head Island, North Carolina. Kate showed off her famous post-babies tummy tuck in a bright orange bikini. Her bodyguard and rumored paramour, Steve Neild, was also on hand to spend some quality time with the family.

This is the second weekend in a row Kate has taken the kids to Bald Head Island while Jon hung around with other women. Last weekend, Jon was spotted in a bar in upstate New York with the same women he took shopping on Friday.

Bald Head Island is a two-mile stretch of land just off the coast of North Carolina, about 35 miles south of Wilmington. To get there, you have to take a ferry because the only transportation allowed on Bald Head are golf carts, bikes, skates and walking shoes. The island has plenty of activities for the kiddies too. Besides the beach, the island offers golf, hiking, fishing, and trips to the Old Baldy Lighthouse.

Most visitors to Bald Head Island rent a home, and now, to accommodate those visitors, the island's website features an easy to use interactive map of available homes. You too can escape to Kate's oasis of calm.

The couple may be vacationing separately but they are unified in one aspect of their lives, bringing in the ratings. The past two weeks of new episodes of "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" have been TLC's highest rated programs, bringing in nearly 10 million viewers.
