Kobe Will Brave Swine Flu for Cabo Vacation

June 15, 2009 at 2:52 PM | by cmb | 1 Comment

Kobe Bryant just won the NBA finals but he isn’t going to Disney World; he’s going to Cabo. "That's all I want to see," Kobe said after the game, "I want to see a beach, some waves, maybe a surfboard."

Bryant had 30 points, six rebounds, five assists and four blocked shots in last night’s game against the Orlando Magic, helping the LA Lakers win 99-86. He took a little something home for himself too—his first Finals MVP trophy.

So where should Kobe go to celebrate his big win? The Esperanza, An Auberge Resort, in Cabo San Lucas has everything a basketball star needs to unwind: gorgeous views, plenty of privacy and a full service spa. Esperanza is known for their attention to detail and friendly staff as well, which sounds perfect after a long season of basketball. This posh resort offers four-bedroom private villas starting at $2500 a night.

If you have your own victory to celebrate but can't quite afford a four digit-a-night villa, the Los Cabos Convention & Visitors Bureau has just the deal for you. They recently launched Los Cabos a la Carte as an attempt the lure back travelers who aren't too keen on catching the swine flu. The promotion lets potential visitors select a vacation package from a menu of special offers at hotels and resorts throughout the region.

As part of the a la Carte program, Esperanza is offering a complimentary 5th night when you book four nights at $475 a night, which includes breakfast daily at El Restaurante, transportation to and from the airport, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages from the mini-bar, and yoga classes daily. Call Esperanza directly at 1-866-311-2226 for more information or to book this baby and make like Kobe.

Kobe Gets Away From the Swine Flu

I am very disappointed in the headline about Kobe braving the swine flu by going to Cabo. If your staff had exhibited a little bit of professionalism and completed a little bit of research they would have written the headline "Kobe Gets Away from the Sine Flu". As of today the WHO reports 6,241 cases in Mexico and 17,855 cases in the US.
